STEM PhD studentship Durham

A fully-funded PhD studentship in Fluid Mechanics is available within the Department of Engineering at Durham University and open to both the UK and EU applicants.

Applications are invited from individuals wishing to undertake a PhD programme of study in the field of Fluid Dynamics. The theme of the project is the evaporative drying of droplets, in particular the creation of a high fidelity three-dimensional deterministic continuum model for use in predicting the underlying physics involved, with the resultant deposit playing a key role in end-user applications. The holder of the studentship will join a vibrant, multidisciplinary research team comprised of engineers, chemists, mathematicians and physicists working cooperatively across the universities of Bristol, Durham and Leeds. This, together with the opportunity to engage with several well-known industrial collaborators, both large and small, offers an exciting and
extensive research training opportunity whatever the future career aspirations of the successful applicant might be.

We are interested to hear from engineers (chemical, mechanical, process), mathematics, physics, computer science and related subjects, with a keen interest in becoming part of the above project having already graduated, or due to graduate, with a degree having a minimum 2:1 honours classification or EU equivalent.

The studentship is fully-funded and open to both UK and EU nationals, available for 3.5 years and will be based in Durham. Closing date: 1st October 2019. Further information is available at:
